Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-02
Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Catch Lightnings mobile app, created by Zorbey Torunoglu as an ad-supported service. The app does not require account registration to use its core capture features.
Catch Lightnings processes captured photos and app settings on your device. This policy explains the limited diagnostic, advertising, billing, and configuration data processed by the app and its service providers.
Information processed by the app and its providers
When product analytics is enabled, Firebase Analytics receives low-cardinality app-use events such as screens, feature results, modes, reasons, and premium state. It can also process an app-instance identifier, Android advertising identifier, approximate location derived from a masked IP address, app lifecycle events, and in-app purchase or subscription events. Firebase Performance Monitoring receives app and device performance information such as startup, rendering, network, custom operation timing, CPU or memory use, device metadata, and IP address.
Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports and sanitized diagnostic reports to help identify failures. These reports can include crash stack traces, relevant app state, device and operating-system information, app version, and a provider-generated installation identifier. Crashlytics reporting is separate from the product analytics setting.
Firebase Remote Config may receive app and device configuration information, including country code, language, time zone, platform and operating-system version, app package and version, Firebase app identifier, SDK version, and installation-related information so the app can retrieve configuration such as force-update settings.
If ads are requested after the app's consent flow, Google Mobile Ads and the User Messaging Platform may process IP address, approximate location inferred from IP address, ad and app-interaction information, diagnostic information, advertising or app-set identifiers, and consent choices for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention.
Google Play and RevenueCat process purchase and entitlement information needed to show offers, complete purchases, restore purchases, and determine premium access. This can include a provider-generated anonymous app user identifier, technical app or device information, purchase tokens, transaction or entitlement status, and product information. We do not receive or store your payment-card details.
Our custom telemetry does not include captured photos or image content, filenames, file paths, capture IDs, raw location, raw brightness streams, names, email addresses, raw exception messages, or user-defined identifiers.
How information is used
We use diagnostic and performance information to maintain the app, investigate crashes and failures, improve reliability, and understand aggregate product use. We use Remote Config to deliver supported app configuration. We use advertising information to provide and measure ads and to prevent fraud. We use purchase and entitlement information to provide premium features and restore eligible purchases.
Choices and controls
The Settings screen includes a control labeled Anonymous analytics. It is enabled by default and, when changed, instructs Firebase Analytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring to stop or resume future collection after the setting is applied. It does not turn off Crashlytics reporting.
Advertising is subject to the app's consent flow where applicable. You can also use Android and Google privacy controls, including advertising-ID controls, to manage available advertising choices. Uninstalling the app stops its future activity on your device but does not itself delete information that service providers already received.
Sharing and service providers
We use Google and Firebase services, including Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Remote Config, Google Mobile Ads, the User Messaging Platform, and Google Play, as well as RevenueCat, to provide the functions described above. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect users, the app, or our legal rights.
Retention, deletion, and security
Captured photos and most app settings remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app. We do not operate a Catch Lightnings account or image-upload service.
Diagnostic, advertising, configuration, and purchase information received by the providers named above is retained under their applicable policies and service settings. Catch Lightnings does not provide an in-app method to delete provider-held diagnostic, advertising, or purchase data. If you have a privacy request, contact us and we will assess the request and direct you to the relevant provider when appropriate.
The providers used by the app state that data is encrypted in transit. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children and changes
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
